The armed forces are establishing the first fully automatic bio-bank unit in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa within the Medical Research and Regenerative Medicine Center of the Armed Forces, in cooperation with the two companies (German Askion, Egypt’s Miralab), under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, The President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to implement the reference genome project for the Egyptians, which was announced in March 2021.
The importance of the biobank unit is its ability to preserve and store all types of samples used in scientific research for many years, which contributes to facilitating the process of studying vital samples without fear of damage.
