Environment Minister discusses climate finance in Africa

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, discussed climate finance in Africa in terms of challenges, priorities and implementation mechanisms, during her participation in the first virtual dialogue sessions organized by the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies, which discusses “climate finance” to formulate a unified African position at the COP27 climate conference next November in Sharm El-Sheikh, in implementation of the recommendations of the “Towards COP27 and Beyond” conference, which was held by the Center last month in cooperation with the Commercial International Bank CIB.


The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Abla Abdellatif, Executive Director of the Center, with the participation of Kevin Kariuki, Vice President of the Department of Electricity, Energy, Climate and Green Growth at the African Development Bank, Harry Chu, Managing Director and Head of Sustainability and Sustainable Finance at the Singapore Stock Exchange, Mali Fofana, Program Director at the Global Green Growth Institute, and Uchi Orji, Member Managing Director and CEO of the Sovereign Investment Authority of Nigeria, Imad Hassan, Head of the Advisory Team at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Andrew Lee, Senior Advisor to South Bridge Group.
