The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development revealed in a report issued by the transport sector targets and investments in the plan for the current fiscal year 22/2023.
Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the transport sector plays a major role in the economic and social development of the country, and is a mainstay for sustainable growth.
The sea, air and land (dry) ports are the main outlets for transferring foreign trade and supporting the balance of current transactions.
Al-Saeed added that the sector's development vision goes beyond just developing mechanisms for transporting passengers and goods to actively participating in consolidating the concept of sustainable development, by providing a transport system that achieves sustainable development goals, and is fundamentally linked with the requirements of national economic and social development, and at the same time supports the future role of transport. At the regional and international levels, it is estimated that the total targeted investments in the transport sector will reach 307 billion pounds in the year of the plan, compared to 240.7 billion pounds in the previous year.
