US President Donald Trump said he believes Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is a strong person, and we will monitor the results of lifting sanctions, according to Cairo News.

He added: "We want Iran to be a great country, but they cannot have a nuclear weapon."

He continued: "I did not know that Syria had been under sanctions for this long."

He continued: "I believe we are close to reaching an agreement with Iran."
