UN Humanitarian Coordinator Tom Fletcher called on the UN Security Council to take action to "prevent genocide" in Gaza, after Israel announced that its military would resume "full force" operations in the Strip.

Fletcher urged Israel to lift its blockade of aid to Gaza, where its operations have killed tens of thousands and destroyed most of the territory.
