President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock.
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s interest in boosting the longstanding strategic partnership with Germany, which is key to maintaining security and stability in the Middle East. He looked forward to optimizing coordination and cooperation with Germany on various political, security and economic issues of mutual interest.
The German minister of foreign affairs welcomed the President’s visit to Berlin and confirmed that it would further support bilateral relations in a constructive and positive way, in light of the German government’s commitment to enhancing cooperation frameworks with Egypt across various fields. She lauded the President’s efforts to counter terrorism and extremism as well as efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in Egypt and the region, expressing her country’s support for these efforts.
The meeting discussed a number of regional and international dossiers of mutual interest, particularly the developments in Ukraine and their negative economic repercussions on the world. It also tackled the latest developments with regard to the Coronavirus pandemic, and climate change in light of the “Petersberg Climate Dialogue” and Egypt’s hosting of the World Climate Summit next November, in Sharm El-Sheikh
