6.6-magnitude earthquake strikes off southwest Australia, no tsunami warning issued

A 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck off southwest Australia on Wednesday, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake's epicenter was in the Indian Ocean, 2,069 kilometers (1,270 miles) southwest of Albany, at the southwestern tip of Western Australia, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The Australian Joint Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami warning in place for Australia or Antarctica.
