Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, presided over Palm Sunday Mass at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria.
A large number of Copts, including priests, attended the Mass.
Pope Tawadros was assisted in the prayers by Bishop Pavly of Montazah, Bishop Hermina of East and Central Egypt, and Bishop Hilarion of West Egypt, along with Father Abram Amil, the Papal Vicar in Alexandria and the Pastor of the Great Coptic Orthodox Church, and the priests.
Today, Copts begin Holy Week celebrations, which begin with Palm Sunday, commemorating the entry of Christ into Jerusalem.
