Yasmine Farouk, a researcher at Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism, confirmed that sports betting falls under the concept of gambling, which God Almighty has forbidden in the Holy Quran, where He says: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than God], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful." She emphasized that gambling includes all forms of gambling, including bets that rely on luck and financial risk. She added that these bets constitute a form of unjustly consuming people's money, and their negative impact extends to social peace and community security, making them a significant threat.
