The third edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development kicks off on Tuesday, for two days, under the theme "Africa in an age of successive risks and climate vulnerability: pathways for a peaceful, resilient and sustainable continent."
Its convening reflects Egypt's keenness to advance the African agenda during the delicate phase of international relations.
The third edition, which will be held hybridically (virtual and present) in Cairo, will address a number of important priorities for the African continent, such as supporting cooperation to combat terrorism, overcoming the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, achieving food security and advancing post-conflict reconstruction and development efforts.
