Aboul Gheit affirms the Arab League's firm position towards Sudan and preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, received Ali Youssef Al-Sharif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, who assumed his duties a few days ago, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League today, Wednesday.


Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit congratulated Ali Youssef on assuming his new position, wishing him success in his delicate mission in light of the circumstances that Sudan is currently going through.

Aboul Gheit affirmed the Arab League's firm position towards Sudan, which is based on preserving Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in its internal affairs, and preventing tampering with its national institutions, noting at the same time the efforts of the Sudanese government in facilitating the entry of humanitarian and relief aid to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

The official spokesman added that the Sudanese minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Secretary-General and the positions of the Arab League in support of the Sudanese state and its institutions with the aim of establishing peace and stability in Sudan.

The spokesman added that it was agreed that the Secretary-General would accept the invitation extended by the Sudanese Minister to visit Sudan at the earliest opportunity.
