Only a few hours remain until the transition to winter time in Egypt, scheduled for midnight tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, 2026. This shift will bring several changes, including new closing times for shops and public venues, as well as adjustments to the time displayed on mobile phones, electronic devices, and various applications.
When does winter time begin?
Many citizens are asking about the official date for the switch to winter time. The Cabinet’s Media Center has announced that, in accordance with Law No. 24 of 2023, winter time will take effect in Egypt starting at midnight on Thursday, October 29, 2026. At 12:00 AM, clocks will be set back by 60 minutes.
It is worth noting that Law No. 24 of 2023, which governs the implementation of daylight saving time, stipulates that "from the last Friday of April until the end of the last Thursday of October each calendar year, the legal time in the Arab Republic of Egypt shall be advanced by sixty minutes."
