Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, received Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. A meeting was held, attended by Eng. Gaber Desouky, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company; Eng. Mahmoud El-Naqeeb, Member for Electricity Production Companies Affairs; Mohamed Salem, Member for Financial, Commercial, and Funding Affairs; Eng. Salah Abdel-Karim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation; Eng. Sayed Selim, Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS); Eng. Mohamed Marzouk, Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO); and several senior officials from both ministries. The meeting focused on reviewing and discussing the action plan in preparation for meeting the anticipated increase in energy demand during the summer, which is expected to reach 8% compared to previous years. Last year, and also the expected increase in consumption and loads.
This comes within the framework of the National Energy Strategy and Action Plan, and the work program of the Ministries of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to provide electricity and ensure a secure, high-quality, stable, and continuous power supply across all voltage levels for all uses within the framework of the state's sustainable development plan. This is also in light of the integration, cooperation, joint work, and continuous coordination between the teams in the two ministries to provide the necessary fuel for power generation plants, and based on the success achieved last summer in addressing the unprecedented electricity loads, which reached 40,000 megawatts, and the lessons learned.
