The Catholic Church in Egypt condemns Trump's offensive remarks about the Pope
4/14/2026

The Catholic Church in Egypt expressed its regret over the circulation of messages containing offensive remarks about His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.

In a statement issued earlier today, the Church explained that it is following the circulating offensive statements with great concern.

The Church emphasized its deep regret for any discourse that impugns the dignity of religious figures.

At the same time, it affirms its unwavering commitment to the spirit of the Gospel, which calls us to respond to offense with love.

This comes in light of the circulation of statements attributed to US President Donald Trump.

In this context, the Church called upon its members, and all believers, to pray for peace to prevail in the world, following the words of Jesus Christ: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." She concluded her statement with a prayer that God would preserve the world in peace and grant everyone the grace of wisdom and love to build peace.
