Cairo University Ranks First in Egypt and Africa, and Among the Top 10% Globally in the 2026 SCImago Ranking

Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, announced that the university has achieved a new milestone by topping the list of Egyptian universities and research institutions in the 2026 SCImago (SIR) Ranking, in addition to joining the first tier (Q1) among the top 10% of universities and research institutions globally, out of more than 10,000 international institutions. This reflects its prestigious standing and growing competitiveness on the global stage in the fields of scientific research and innovation.

The ranking results confirmed Cairo University's continued leadership at both the national and African levels. It maintained its first-place ranking among Egyptian universities for the third consecutive year (2024–2026) and advanced to first place in Africa in 2026, after ranking second in the previous two years. This clearly demonstrates the ongoing development of its institutional performance and regional competitiveness indicators.
