Upon the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, met with His Excellency President Joseph Aoun of the Lebanese Republic on Thursday, March 26, in Beirut. He conveyed to His Excellency a message of support and solidarity from the Egyptian political leadership and people, and they discussed regional developments in light of the instability plaguing the region.
The Foreign Minister began the meeting by conveying the sincere greetings and appreciation of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to His Excellency the Lebanese President, emphasizing the directives of the political leadership to provide all forms of urgent support to brotherly Lebanon. He noted that the dispatch of the emergency relief aid shipment, weighing approximately 1,000 tons, comes as a direct implementation of the President's directives, as a practical message of support to alleviate human suffering, and based on Egypt's firm support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity at this critical juncture.
The spokesperson concluded his remarks by indicating that the Foreign Minister affirmed the continuation of Egyptian contacts with regional and international parties to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos, calling on the international community to intervene immediately to deter Israel's unchecked practices in Lebanon.
