The First of the Odd-Night Nights at Al-Azhar: Tarawih Lesson Calls for Reflecting on the Meanings of Laylat al-Qadr
3/11/2026

Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Malik, Vice President of Al-Azhar University for Upper Egypt, delivered the Tarawih lesson at Al-Azhar Mosque on the twenty-first night of the blessed month of Ramadan. The lesson was attended by a group of Al-Azhar scholars and leaders, as well as a large congregation of worshippers who came to observe these blessed nights, during which Muslims hope to attain Laylat al-Qadr.

Dr. Abdul-Malik explained that God Almighty has chosen certain seasons in which virtues and rewards are multiplied, placing the last ten days of Ramadan at the forefront. It is during these times that Laylat al-Qadr is manifested, which the Holy Quran describes as a night of peace: {Peace it is until the emergence of dawn}. He further explained that on this blessed night, mercy and blessings descend, tranquility fills the hearts of believers, and the doors of goodness and acceptance are opened for all who turn to God Almighty with a sincere heart.
