New Horizons for Egyptian-Chinese Friendship
1/8/2026

In the heart of the new capital, where the horizon shifts with each sunrise, the iconic tower of the New Administrative Capital rises like a ray of light piercing the sky. Soaring to approximately 385.8 meters, it is the tallest tower in Africa, and from afar, it outlines a city confidently striding towards the future. As the surrounding massive buildings near completion and the exterior finishing work enters its final stages, this architectural landmark is gaining prominence in the public consciousness as a living testament to Egypt's ambition and its growing partnership with China. On one occasion, Ambassador Ahmed Wali, President of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association, ascended to the top floor of the tower. Standing before a floor-to-ceiling glass window, he saw Old Cairo firmly established on the horizon, while a new capital city, with its modern layout, wide roads, and state-of-the-art institutions, was taking shape around the tower. "The Iconic Tower is not just a skyscraper," Wali said, sensing the significance of the moment. "It is an architectural expression of the remarkable progress achieved in the friendship between Egypt and China, and a landmark that adds a new chapter to Cairo's regional and international presence." Egyptian and Chinese engineers collaborated on the design and construction of this project, incorporating advanced building technologies, from smart safety systems to modern treatments for the glass facades.
