On one occasion, Ambassador Ahmed Wali, President of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association, ascended to the top floor of the tower. Standing before a floor-to-ceiling glass window, he saw Old Cairo firmly established on the horizon, while a new capital city, with its modern layout, wide roads, and state-of-the-art institutions, was taking shape around the tower. "The Iconic Tower is not just a skyscraper," Wali said, sensing the significance of the moment. "It is an architectural expression of the remarkable progress achieved in the friendship between Egypt and China, and a landmark that adds a new chapter to Cairo's regional and international presence."
