The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar congratulates scholar Abu Musa on winning the King Faisal Prize for Service to Islam 2026

His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, congratulated the distinguished scholar, Professor Dr. Muhammad Abu Musa, Professor Emeritus of Rhetoric at Al-Azhar University and member of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar, on winning the King Faisal Prize for Service to Islam 2026, in recognition of his significant contributions to the Arabic language, its rhetoric, and its heritage. He authored more than 30 authoritative scholarly books, considered among the most important contemporary references in this field, in addition to holding hundreds of scholarly sessions at Al-Azhar Mosque to explain classical texts to Egyptian and international students.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar affirmed that honoring the scholar Muhammad Abu Musa with this award reflects his high scholarly standing and embodies the value of his dedicated scholarly contributions to the service of Islamic sciences. He noted that the scholar has presented a distinguished model in combining profound understanding, rigorous methodology, and eloquent expression, and has contributed through his knowledge and efforts to connecting generations of students with their authentic scholarly heritage. He prayed to God Almighty to bless his knowledge and contributions and to perpetuate his benefit to Al-Azhar and the Muslim Ummah.

The King Faisal Prize, awarded by the King Faisal Foundation since 1979, is one of the world's most prestigious awards recognizing scholars and thinkers for their contributions to serving Islam and humanity, promoting scientific and human values, and enriching human thought.
