President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, on Sunday, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the President began the meeting by welcoming the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, emphasizing the great confidence that the Egyptian state places in her competence and extensive experience in addressing global environmental challenges and supporting international efforts aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in light of the escalating environmental crises the world is witnessing.

She also expressed appreciation for Egypt's full commitment to implementing the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, submitting national reports on time, and setting voluntary land rehabilitation targets.
