Egypt Recovers Two Artifacts from Belgium
12/3/2025

Continuing the tireless national efforts and the great importance the Egyptian state and its institutions place on recovering its smuggled antiquities and preserving its cultural heritage and civilization, Ambassador Wael El-Naggar, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Cultural Relations, participated in the handover ceremony of two recovered artifacts from Belgium to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

This was achieved through joint efforts and cooperation between the Egyptian Embassy in Brussels and the Belgian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, the Belgian Public Prosecutor's Office, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Egyptian Public Prosecutor's Office. The Egyptian Embassy in Brussels successfully recovered two pieces: a valuable wooden coffin dating back to the Ptolemaic period (between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC), and a fragment of a wooden statue from ancient Egyptian civilization.
