Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, received Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Sudan, on Wednesday. The two ministers discussed the latest developments in Sudan, particularly the situation in El Fasher and the humanitarian and security developments there.
The ministers reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the fields of trade, investment, and infrastructure repair and rehabilitation. Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt's readiness to expand cooperation in the electricity, water, health, and education sectors to support the needs of the brotherly Sudanese people.
The meeting addressed the issue of water security, emphasizing the unified position of the two countries as downstream Nile Basin states and stressing the need for full adherence to international law in the Eastern Nile Basin, as well as the complete rejection of unilateral actions on the Nile River.
The meeting concluded with an affirmation of the two sides' commitment to continuing close coordination and consultation, which strengthens the historical bonds of brotherhood between Egypt and Sudan and supports the aspirations of both peoples for security, development, and stability.
