German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said that Egypt is a strategic partner for Germany and our gateway to Africa.

This came during a joint press conference with Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, on Friday.

He added, "We want to improve the security situation for navigation in the Red Sea, and we seek to strengthen economic relations with Egypt. A political solution must be reached to the crises in the region."
