A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Taiwan on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, causing buildings to shake in the capital, Taipei.

The U.S. Geological Survey added that the quake struck at a depth of about 70 kilometers in Yilan County, near Taipei.

The Yilan Fire Department told AFP that there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
