10/28/2024

The Swiss delegation to the United Nations, which holds the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, announced that the UN Security Council will hold a meeting today, Monday, on the Israeli strike against Iran.

The American website "USA Today" quoted the Swiss presidency of the Security Council as saying, "On the evening of October 28, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting on the Middle East at the request of Iran, supported by Algeria, China, and Russia."

The Iranian mission to the United Nations had asked Switzerland, in its capacity as president of the UN Security Council, to hold an emergency meeting following the Israeli strike. The Iranian mission also called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council to take a firm position and condemn the Israeli attack strongly and unequivocally.
