Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, inaugurated, on Thursday morning, the project of restoring and developing the Saqqara area in Giza (west of the capital, Cairo), after a long journey of restoration and development of the surrounding area that spanned nearly 14 years.
Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, made an opening speech, declaring that the listed pyramid restoration project, as many people call it, is one of the most important restoration projects implemented by the ministry, as it is the oldest pyramid and the first stone building in the world located in the Saqqara monuments region, it is one of the important archaeological monuments The Saqqara necropolis, west of the ancient city of Memphis in Egypt, was built by Amenhotep during the 27th century BC, to be buried inside Djoser. The project included the external and internal restoration of the pyramid, including the development of visiting paths leading to the pyramid, the internal corridors leading to the burial well, and the restoration work of the granite sarcophagus in addition to the work of a Restoration of flour walls.
"Anani" added that the restoration project started in 2006 and the work stopped in 2011 and resumed at the end of 2013, and the restoration work included the external facades of the pyramid and the installation of loose stones, restoration of buildings and stairs of the southern entrance and the eastern entrance from the outside, in addition to the work of careful restoration and the preparation and cleaning of all internal corridors Of the pyramid.
"Anani" Ali announced that Egypt will witness a global boom in the field of festivals and archaeological openings, including the Grand Egyptian Museum, which will be the greatest museum ever, and a title to Heliopolis, noting that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is following himself works at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
On the sidelines of the opening, the Prime Minister took a memorial photo with the ambassadors of some of the countries present at the opening, and a number of officials from the tourism sector and tourists, wishing them a happy stay in Egypt.
